2011 Wostawea Loppet cancelled
The Wostawea Loppet, scheduled for Sunday February 6, has been cancelled due to heavy snowfall predicted for Saturday night and Sunday morning. This was a very difficult decision, especially since so much effort has been invested to date. Safety of participants and volunteers was a primary factor in making this decision, as was the challenge of creating optimal trail conditions in the midst of a heavy snowfall.
To offset this cancellation, the club is actively exploring the option of a "Definitely Not The Loppet" event at a future date for both skate and classic skiers.
I would like to thank all of this year's Loppet volunteers. Hold that thought! I hope that we can channel your effort and enthusiasm in a future Wostawea event.
