Wostawea News - February 24, 2016

Hello Wostaweans. Oh boy, what a week - Darn that El Nino!!!  Here are this week’s updates.

Thursday Night Jackrabbit ski session and Lunar ski for February 25 – cancelled due to poor weather and trail conditions 

Wostawea Jackrabbit and adult learn to ski program for Saturday – A decision will be made on Thursday night regarding lessons on Saturday February 27th. Check club messages and postings on Facebook.

Sunday Ski tour at the Palmers scheduled for Feb 28 – unfortunately, due to poor snow and ice conditions on the Saint John River, we have to cancel this event. 

Wostawea Funday is on Saturday, March 5 from 10am to 12 noon at Killarney lake. It is a fun morning of sprints, games, snacks, participation awards and costumes. This is a very important and fun morning for our club’s young skiers. We are looking for volunteers to help with registration from 9:30 to 10, with manual timing, with the start and finish areas of the sprints, and for enthusiastic shovelers to help build a fun run as soon as we get new snow!  If you would like to help please contact Nathalie Comeau: philemon@nb.sympatico.ca.

Snowtacular Year End Celebration – We are holding our annual celebration at the Delta Fredericton on Saturday March 5th. Doors open at 6:30pm and there will be Jackrabbit prizes, the Volunteer of the Year Award, light nibblies and a cash bar. Local R&B band Sugarbomb will be on stage from 8pm to help you boogey out those winter blues. $10 charge for adults, free for children. All are welcome. We hope to see you all there!

Wostawea Trails (UNB Woodlot and Kingswood) –

Provincial Events The NB cup Sprint race in Tracadie scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled due to anticipated poor trail conditions.  

Miramichi Loppet – February 28 – the Loppet organizers are still hoping to carry out this event. Here is the invitation –

Tour du CanadaMarch 1 to 12. The World Cup skiers are coming to Canada, including Quebec City, Montreal, Gatineau and Canmore. Please let us know if you are planning on attending any of these events. Maybe this could become a Wostawea group event. http://skitourcanada.com/en/
