Wostawea News - January 19, 2017

Hello Wostaweans. This upcoming weekend Wostawea is hosting its first Maritime Cup. Two days of great ski competition at Killarney Lake. Come on out and race, and if you don’t want to race, come out and cheer on our fellow Wostaweans.

Maritime Cup – Killarney Lake – January 21 and 22– Wostawea will be hosting the Maritime Cup this year, a two race regional competition, with a skate race on Saturday, and classic race on Sunday. Please see invitation for details, and sign up to race. We want to see as many Wostaweans as possible out on the race course as we need to build up our points for the NB Cup Trophy. There are age categories from the young (6 years old) to the old (Masters +60 category). Every participant, regardless of your placing, earns points for the Wostawea Team.

Wostawea Programs (Jackrabbit, Track Attack and Adult) There will be no classes for Bunnyrabbits, Jackrabbits and Track Attack skiers this Saturday, January 21st.  We encourage all jackrabbits to register for the races this weekend, distances are short for Jackrabbits and you know the trails!  See race invitation. Lessons will resume January 28th. Adult lessons will take place at Kingswood on Saturday, January 21st, meet Leon and the other instructors at 10am in front of the Kingswood lodge.

Skate Ski Lessons – Louis Fortin is offering skate ski lessons this season. This is a separate program from the Wostawea learn to ski programs. All proceeds will support his efforts to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyongChang.

Trail conditions at Killarney Lake and Wostawea Trails The groomers at both Killarney Lake and the Wostawea Trails have been working very hard to get the trails in good condition after our warm/cold spell last week. Check the Trail Conditions section of the website to find out trail conditions.  http://www.wostawea.ca/conditions/
