Wow, Snowmageddon. Lots of heavy lifting for our groomers, but trails should be in great shape for the weekend. Here are this weeks updates.
Wostawea Programs (Jackrabbit, Track Attack and Adult) – Regular classes this Saturday, February 18 at 10 am for all groups.
Seniors’ Ski: Next senior ski will be on Wednesday Feb 22, at Killarney Lake, from 1:30 – 4 pm. The downstairs room in the Lodge will be open for us, so we can change into our ski boots there rather than in our car. Bring your own mug, Jean-Claude will serve hot chocolate, herbal tea, and sweets. If you have any questions, or need a ride, please contact Margaret Wicken at email@example.com (474-1608), and bring a friend.
Lunar Ski: Cancelled for tonight. Next Lunar Ski Tour will be at Killarney Lake at 7pm on Thursday February 23, 2017. Meet at the Rotary Lodge at Killarney Lake, 1600 St. Mary's Street, Fredericton. There are some headlamps available, but please bring your own if you have one. The ski tour will last approximately an hour and a half. For more information, contact Milda Markauskas via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Sunday Ski Tour: David and Doris will be hosting their annual Saint John River tour this upcoming Sunday starting at 1:00 pm. They are located on the north side at 394 Clements Drive (but the civic number is buried under snow). We will put up some balloons. Please park across the road at the Sunset Church, which is roughly 700 metres west of the Claudie Road. It would be great if people can bring some snacks. Bring your wide skis, and your large basket ski poles if you have them. The trail will consist of a lovely river bank route of 6 – 7 kilometres all told (return). To help create a good ski trail on the thick snow pack, David has requested help to pack the trail with snowshoes and then set track. Trail grooming session will be tomorrow at 1 pm. Folks who would like to help should bring both snowshoes and skis. Any questions they can call David at 444-9180.
Wostawea Loppet - Wostawea will be hosting a Loppet at the Killarney Lake Trails on Sunday February 26, 2017. The loppet will include distances for everyone (2.5, 5, 9, 14, 19 and 28 km). Registration will be in advance on Zone 4, or in person on the morning of the event between 9:00-9:45am. Entry fee with meal included: Adults – $20 ($25 day of), Students (13+) – $15 ($20), Children (Under 13) – $10 ($15). See the Wostawea website for more details.
Trail conditions at Killarney Lake and Wostawea Trails. The groomers have been working very hard to get the large snow pack under control. Check the Trail Conditions section of the website to find out trail conditions. http://www.wostawea.ca/conditions/
