Wostawea News - March 2, 2017

Thanks to all the participants and volunteers that made this year's Wostawea Loppet a great event!!!

Wostawea Loppet – We had a great loppet last weekend, with the weather drying up just before the event.  Event planners were able to set up a 14 km loop, and trail conditions held up well. Thanks to the volunteers led by John Ball and Donald Wright that made this event possible.

Wostawea Programs (Jackrabbit, Track Attack and Adult) – Saturday March 4: FUNNNNDDDAAAYYYY!!!!  Regular start time at 10 am. To celebrate Canada’s 150th year of Confederation, come dressed in your Canada 150 outfit.

From noon to 1pm, there will be a youth program celebration in the Rotary room upstairs, for bunnies, jackrabbits and Track Attack.  Awards, door prizes and cake!

Wostawea Trails for Life Campaign – This weekend we are excited to launch an ambitious fund raising campaign aimed at enhancing the cross country skiing experience for all abilities and all ages in our region.  You will receive an email message in the next few days with a letter about our campaign, and a volunteer from our campaign team will be in touch with you after March 12th.  Keep your eyes peeled for posters and stay tuned for other communications! (from Campaign Chair Mary Luiker and President John Ball)

Trail conditions at Killarney Lake and Wostawea Trails – Again this week, the warmer weather has created challenges for the groomers, however, they aren’t backing off and there is still plenty of snow on the trails. For trail conditions go to http://www.wostawea.ca/conditions/

WOSTAWEA needs you!!!! We have an uphill battle winning the NB Cup this year. The Sureau Blanc Club is sending out an army of skiers to this weekend’s races in Tracadie and Caraquet. If you are interested in entering a couple of races, this is the time to do it. Remember, for NB cup races, participation is more important then how you do. There are race categories for all ages. All participants generate points for the club. So come on out, take one for the team!!!
