Wostawea News - March 30, 2017

Well Wostaweans, another ski season is coming to an end.  We have accomplished much this year and many projects are planned for next year. Here are some final notes for the year:

Wostawea AGM: Wostawea’s Annual General Meeting will be held at 7 pm on 12 April at the Centre Communautaire Ste-Anne. Come and find out what we are planning for next year, voice your ideas/concerns/suggestions or get involved as a volunteer. All members are welcome. More details to follow.

Wostawea Racing Team: The Wostawean Racing team once again had a successful season, with the following athletes making the NB Provincial Team:

Katie Bower

Mikaya Hoyt

Madeleine Horsley

Kaj Jones

Andrew Luiker

Mattea McNair

Lars Schwarz

Jack Toner

Frances Wright

Harriet Wright

Also, we had two age category winners, Mattea McNair, and Anna Healey, and sent two athletes Frances Wright and Andrew Luiker to the Nationals in Canmore Alberta. We are looking for new recruits for next year. If you are 10 yrs of age and over, and enjoy competing and training on skis, please contact me.

Unfortunately, the Wostawea Club was upended by the Sureau Blanc from Tracadie for the NB Cup Championships this year. They have done a great job in recruiting athletes into their program. Wostawea had a good run of 3 straight championships, we will have to regroup for next year, and we encourage all Wostaweans to get out and race.

Wostawea Trails for Life Campaign – We are in the middle of our Wostawea Trails for Life Campaign. If you haven’t done so already, please consider donating to this exciting project for cross country skiing in the Fredericton area.
