Wostawea News - January 18, 2018

Maritime Cup is this weekend at Killarney Lake. Please sign up to race, volunteer or come out and watch. There are changes to all Learn to Ski programs for the weekend, so read the updates carefully.

Maritime Cup – Wostawea Maritime Cup is on for this Saturday and Sunday (January 20 and 21) – Conditions will be great!!!

WOSTAWEA NEEDS YOU!!!! Sign up to race, either skate, classic or both. There are categories for all ages above the age of 5. Every racer earns points for the club, the more Wostawea racers, the more points for the Club. At the end of the season, the club with the most points accumulated after the 7 NB Cup races wins the NB Cup.  After winning the cup for three consecutive years, we lost the NB Cup last year to Sureau Blanc out of Tracadie. We can’t let that happen again!!!! If for some unknown reason you can’t race, please come out to cheer on the skiers.

Wostawea Youth and Adult ski programs

Bunnies/Jackrabbits/Track Attackers: No lessons this Saturday. Please make sure you register for the Maritime Cup races

Adults: We will have Adult Lessons at Kingswood Saturday January 20 from 10 AM – noon, if weather and trail conditions are suitable.

Senior Ski - Our first seniors ski will be this Thursday January 18, from 1:30 – 4 pm at the Killarney Lake Lodge. Meet everyone downstairs in the lodge at 1:30. Please bring a cup for tea/hot chocolate.  Trails are in great shape. Anyone who would like to act/help as a trail guide during this outing, since not everyone is familiar with the new trails, please contact me so I know who to count on. We have 3 women who have agreed to help, it would be good to have a few men as well. With several people helping out each week, we can rotate the responsibility when needed.

Skate Ski Lessons for Adults:  Last chance to sign up for adult Skate ski lessons. Louis Fortin will be giving the lessons this year.  Go to link for more information http://www.wostawea.ca/news/2018/1/11/2018-skate-ski-lessons-registration-is-now-open If you are interested please email Louis directly at Louisbfortin@gmail.com

Lunar Ski events - Join us for a Lunar Ski tour on the Killarney Lake Trails at 7pm on Thursday January 17, 2018. Meet at the Rotary Lodge at Killarney Lake, 1600 St. Mary's Street, Fredericton. There are some headlamps available, bring your own if you have one. For more information contact David Palmer rivroute@nb.sympatico.ca

Trail conditions – Killarney trails are back in good shape, thank you Pisten Bully and City Groomers. Kingswood/Woodlot need a bit more snow to get the trails up and running after the rain event last weekend. Hopefully tonight’s snow will help. Please check the Wostawea website under “Trail Conditions” for most up to date information.
