Wostawea Learn to Ski Outreach Launches Saturday With Multicultural Association of Fredericton (MCAF):

We are very pleased to launch our first outreach ski program that supports those who are new to the sport of cross-country skiing with access to ski gear and support. Thanks to the generosity of our Trails For Life donors, we were able to order 30 sets of ski gear (boots, poles, skis with bindings) for outreach initiatives.  Our first outreach partner of 2018 is MCAF and the response from newcomer families has been outstanding. We have over 90 newcomers to Canada interested in learning how to cross-country ski and enjoy our winters. The MCAF Learn To Ski program runs four consecutive weeks at Killarney Lake Park beginning this Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2018. Thank you to Wostawea members who have volunteered to coach and support our newcomer skiers, to Radical Edge for providing us with the ski sets, and to the City for beautifully groomed trails for our newcomers to hone their ski skills and enthusiasm. We are looking for another 4-5 volunteers to help with some of the non-coaching tasks like welcoming newcomer families to Killarney, helping with ski equipment fitting, setting up the hot chocolate station and general support. If you have time the next four Saturdays between 12:30-4:30 please contact Barb Ramsay at bramsay@nbnet.nb.ca for details.

Senior Ski – Due to weather and conditions, Senior ski is cancelled for tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon

Lunar Ski events - Join us for a Lunar Ski tour on the Killarney Lake Trails at 7pm on Thursday January 24, 2018. Meet at the Rotary Lodge at Killarney Lake, 1600 St. Mary's Street, Fredericton. There are some headlamps available, bring your own if you have one. For more information contact David Palmer rivroute@nb.sympatico.ca

Trail conditions  – We took another hit on the trails with this past storm. With the warm weather today, and soft snow conditions, groomers stayed off the trails. However, with the cold overnight weather, City and Wostawea groomers should be back at it tomorrow morning. Please check the website for updates.

Provincial Events: Miramichi Loppet – Sunday, February 4. Please see attached invitation.
