Skiers from around the Maritimes compete in Killarney Lake Park
Wostawea Cross Country Ski Club was pleased to host the 2017 Maritime Cup at Killarney Lake Park in Fredericton on January 21 and 22.
Cross country skiers aged from 5 to over 65 years from PEI, Nova Scotia, and around New Brunswick competed for the Maritime Cup, showing that it is a truly lifelong sport.
Local skiers won 13 medals on Day 1 which was a skate skiing event, with Gold medals for Madeleine Horsley in the PeeWee girls, Mattea McNair in mini Midget girl, and Anna Healy in the Master Women category. On Day 2, a classic race saw local skiers win 12 medals, with gold medals for Madeleine Horsley. Mattea McNair, and Jill Maepea in Open women.

A Para-Nordic demonstration event took place immediately before the race, including sit, visually impaired, and para standing skiers. These skiers also took part in the race which was a Cross Country Canada sanctioned event
