The Jackrabbit Program is directed at skiers who are 6 to 9 years of age in the “FUNdamentals” stage of development. It is the second level of the lean-to-ski program. Program materials include an enrolment kit, an age appropriate poster that provides a comprehensive record of the young skier’s ski career and “technique” and “program” award stickers to chart the different levels of achievement. The objective is for children to learn basic cross-country ski skills (both classic and skating) and to instill a lifelong interest in the sport, thereby enhancing their quality of life and health.

The cost of the program is $80 for eight weeks of instruction and registration is available online at zone4.ca.

Skis can be rented for the season from Radical Edge on Westmorland Street, Fredericton. There is a subsidy available for those who want to rent both classic and skate skis.
